Welcome! I fell in love with basketball when I noticed a picture of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar performing a skyhook on the cover of a library book when I was 9 years old. Immediately after checking out the book I dove into pages and stayed up until about midnight reading about players such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird. This fueled my interest in the game of basketball and I became an avid learner of the history of the game and the game as it is today. Although it was the stats, wins, and highlights that captivated me at first, I later realized that there was more to the game than just dunks and ankle breakers. I began to appreciate the game’s cultural impact and how it has changed the lives of many people, some who have never touched a ball. The stories of resilience, respect, and the ability to overcome adversity have changed the way I look at the world, and I hope in reading my work, you gain a new appreciation of the game and find out why I love it so much.
